Beyond the Basics Understanding using text to flow into frame / vertical align (center) text

    I have always had trouble with understanding how flow into frame works. I suspect that part of the problem is that I may be trying to use it in a manner other than what it is intended for, often trying to use it for something like I would use office draw or other flowchart type things.

    I am assuming that flow into frame is

    shape-inside:url(#REFRENCE);

    Aligning text to center horizontally is fairly easy, but I can never seem to figure out how to align center vertically. And really, most of the alignment when flowing into frame seems to be either missing or something. I know I can use transform, but it is significantly less responsive and seems to defeat the point of (how I am using) flow into frame. Obviously, svg isn't exactly about making dynamic things, but it still seem like there should be a way to do what I want.

    If anyone can explain to me what I should be using instead, or how to use flow into frame properly, I would appreciate it. Sorry if I posted in the wrong spot or something, the forum setup here is super confusing.

    Thanks!

    There's no vertical centering in flowed text. My unsatisfactory workaround is to use the Align and Distribute panel to [Centre on horizontal axis]. Moving the frame retains the vertical alignment. Changing the frame or the text may require realignment.

    Okay, thanks for the reply.

    I think I figure out that there is no vertical centering and manually center stuff, then forget that it has to be done manually. Then when I forget I feel like the option must be somewhere and that I am just missing it.
