Using Inkscape with Cutters/Plotters Can't open a DXF to convert to Gcode

I'm trying to create some Gcode from a DXF drawing I made in LibreCAD (I tried to create it in Inkscape but it's too difficult for me).  I want to send the Gcode to a CNC router to cut some holes in pieces of carbon fiber.

I'm working at actual size, so my drawing limits in LibreCAD are 440mm wide and 575mm height, to match the size of the work surface on my CNC machine.  When I try to open my DXF file in Inkscape I first create a document with the same dimensions using Ctrl-Shift-D, Document Properties.  I set it to 440 x 575 and with a grey page colour so I can see the circles on my drawing better.

However, when I Open my DXF file in Inkscape, it defaults back to A4 page size, white background and the DXF spills off the page.  I use Ctrl-Shift-D again to resize the page and set the page colour, but my DXF file still runs off the new page by the same amount.

This isn't going like it's described online.  I could really use some help understanding this.  I have a lot of cutting to do.

Can you set me straight, please?

Why not export SVG from LibreCAD. Add a rectangle 440mm wide and 575mm height to your drawing before exporting.

    Hi Aero,

Same problem with SVG.  My LibreCAD drawing already has a 440 x 575 rectangle and a 400 x 400mm square inside of that, which represents the actual, effective working area of the CNC.

Thanks anyway, but I'm still stumped.
