First time posting, so hopefully this is in the right place.

I'm new to Inkscape, and art in general, but I'm trying to create some vector images, based on some 3D models I've created.

The attached picture shows a cylinder I created in blender, rotated 15°.

What I'm trying to do is essentially trace this image, but I'm not sure where to start.

I've tried using booleans to cut out shapes, but I keep ending up with little bits, that I fail to align/join correctly.

I'm hoping someone can suggest a good work flow on how to handle things like this.

    Thanks!

This is a typical exercise in 2D technical drawing. In this example, I rotated the top view by 15 degrees and used guides to align nodes in the side view and finally shape builder to isolate visible faces.

It's straightforward for simple cubes and cylinders. For complexity shapes you'll need a 3D application like Fusion 360, FreeCad, Blender. Recent versions of Sketchup only export raster images unless you buy a subscription. I use a long outdated Sketchup Make v17 to print vector pdf files

    Thanks Paddy_CAD.

I really do appreciate the response, but I'm afraid I'm not really following you.

Is that just a pair of rectangles, that you rotated?

I'm new to Inkscape, so I'm not sure how you did all of those guide lines.

Could you recommend something I should read/watch, to hopefully help illustrate your answer?

    Thanks again
