Beginners' Questions Custom pattern thumbnails don't seem to make sense?

    I have a group of objects like this:

     

    I select the group then Object -> Pattern -> Object to Pattern.

    Now it appears in Fill menu, but the thumbnail makes no sense to me:

    How to make the thumbnail show... the thumbnail of the pattern?

    I'm going to guess that the original pattern tile needs to be <50x50 pixels.

    That's a... really weird limit. Kinda defeating the whole idea of thumbnail...

    Simply change the patternTransform scale for your original pattern in defs to your liking in the XML editor.
