Beginners' Questions "(more: shift)" what does this tip at the bottom of the screen mean?

    When I select an object, inkscape hints me "more: Shift". But when I press down shift, nothing happens. What does this tool tip mean?

    Shift can modify the scale, rotate and skew transforms (when dragging the transform handles) and modifies the nudge amounts when moving the selected objects using the arrow keys.

    With the Select tool, [click] a shape on the canvas to select that shape.

    [click] a second shape to release the first selection and select the second shape.

    [shift+click] a shape to add it to the selection without releasing the shapes selected already.
