The plot thickens... you can change the node number to get the correct pair, but that still only scales along a specific axis, not the center of volume. It helps to get in the ballpark with standard transforms before the 2-node transform, but yet another layer of complexity.
The Real-scale extension based on pixels may be simpler, but not nearly as nice as the other app. Clearly could be done as a new LPE or added feature of the 2-node transform.
Yes - I figured out already and that I don´t have to break the path to make it work.
But it will be so much easier when available with say a modifier key as we can adjust the pivot point already - but just legal for rotational operations.
… like shown here in another vector drawing app:
Without it´ll become nearly impossible to achieve the alignment of these 15 polygons (all have the exact same edge/segment length) for instance:
This might work for you:
tags: scale, path effect, transform by two points
Huh - that´s looking good - tons of steps though and plays in another league-of-intuition. 😆
But it don´t seems to work with combined paths - tried with "a" instead of "3" :
Cheers

This develops far away from usability.
I spoke too soon... the Transform by two nodes scales very well if "Elastic" remains unchecked.

Thanks for the hint on the extension BTW.
Odd that the first time I tried it, it only worked with an open path. Operator error, I rekon.
