I have watch several videos on how to do this. I followed each step and still cannot get the text on the curve. I have both the text and curve selected, then I click 'text to path' and nothing happens.

Anyidea why it's not working? TIA

Can you share an example file where you can't get it to work, so we can try to replicate the problem?

Hard to tell from that. The SVG file would be better.

Can I check one little thing... when you click on your text, look at the taskbar at the bottom of the screen, just below the colour tabs (it's just out of shot in your screenshot). Does it say 'Text' along with some information about the font and size? And when you click on the line, it's definitely just a stroke? You haven't clicked on 'Stroke to Path' at any point?

Here's a new screenshot. If I click on just the text, it says group of 14 objects layer 1

Right, your text is no longer text. You must have converted it to a path at some point. Click on it with the node tool, and you'll see lots of individual nodes. (Create some new text with the text tool and click this with the node tool to compare the difference.)

The text you have is basically a shape or an object now, rather than editable text, and that won't work with 'Put text on a path'. The simplest thing to do is just retype your text and try again.

Ok, I deleted the text and re-entered. Selected both and then text to path. It worked!!!! :)

Thank you. I'm New to Inkscape and really want to learn its functions.
