Hi, new here. I tried to run inkspace on my surface laptop and it’s not powerful enough. I need to edit maps with it, or sections of maps. I was wondering about a new machine but haven’t much money. What sort of thing should I look for in a second hand machine please. Thanks
The source of the maps can make a big difference. Many maps contain 10x the data or detail the job calls for. GIS data can be huge, so filtration is almost always needed.
That machine will be frustrating to use for most open map work. I'd use i7 with 32GB ram at a minimum.
The region shared produces an svg file almost 700MB. Manageable files are in the tens of MB.
This smaller area exported as svg has 6900 objects and is 40MB and I would not want to use a machine less than my i7 8-core 32MB 1TB machine. Just the water area has 2000 nodes

Faster is always better... CPU, SSD, max RAM.

Thanks Tyler. I was thinking of open street maps. https://www.openstreetmap.org/#map=6/54.910/-3.432
and was thinking of something like this…
